There's no reason to buy your eyeglasses from your eye doctor. The markups are very high and he's not grinding your lenses in the back room. They are being done up in a Luxottica lab. My company health insurance provides a vision benefit, but I have generally found I can get less expensive and better quality from WP by foregoing the insurance benefit. (I use the coverage for exam only). The WP single vision package of lens and frames for $95 is every bit as good as the last pair I paid $600 for before I discovered them ten years ago. Plus, they donate a pair for every pair you buy.

Warby Parker is hands down the way to go for RX eyeglasses. They are virtually the only manufacturer that is not owned and controlled by the Luxottica monopoly. The 60 minutes story is an "eye opener" if you're not familiar with it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDdq2rIqAlM I'm very particular on quality, and Warby is excellent. You can go to one of their physical store and try them on, as well as get an eye exam. Or they will ship 5 pairs to your home for free to try them on. Their "virtual try on" app is also quite amazing. There's no reason to buy your eyeglasses from your eye doctor. The markups are very high and he's not grinding your lenses in the back room.
