The bath and beauty market wins customers over with beautiful and long lasting custom labels that not only showcase the brand also function perfectly throughout its lifespan. The beauty market is critical of both product content and brand presentation—don’t sell yourself short with shampoo labels that don’t match your unique identity or materials that aren’t suited for your requirements. Waterproof materials, permanent adhesives, great looking finishes, and UV inks will ensure that your labels won’t peel away and prints won’t rub off in the shower.
Choose from a variety of our standard pressure-sensitive and self-adhesive paper (coated), plastic film (white BOPP), clear PVC, foil (PET and metalized paper options), and kraft label stocks for your unique requirements. When choosing your label stock it’s important to consider the regular use and environment of your products.
Shampoo labels necessitate long lasting, durable materials. Both water resistance and superior adhesive tack is important, so that even with immersion in water, constant handling, and even with a good scrub, your labels won’t slide around or wrinkle and the inks won’t bleed, smear, or run. Label performance is key in both keeping your shampoo labels from slipping off of your containers and having the prints look as beautiful as they did right after they were freshly applied. If you require more trendy presentations that call for different label materials for individual labeling requirements or matching label sets to complement your hair care product lines, we can certainly provide other signature stocks.
White plastic film stock is our recommended material for most shampoo label applications. It is flexible and goes on smoothly on properly primed surfaces, suited for rigid shampoo bottles as well as squeezable shampoo bottles and tubes. With the addition of our stronger adhesive this will guarantee that your labels stay perfectly positioned on their containers for longer. This is especially valuable for curved surfaces/rounded bottles. Primed for underwater toughness, these are extremely durable and come in a beautiful pearlescent milky white with high opacity and shine, developing vibrant prints, with high contrast. This stock is tear-proof and impervious to water and oil. Add laminate to give your shampoo labels more protection and to develop the glossy or satin finish of your preference.
Clear plastic film (PVC) stock is a popular choice especially if you want to avoid color-matching labels to your shampoo containers. This stock holds up extremely well on both shelf and while in the shower. A versatile and stylish choice for bath and beauty products, this makes your shampoo label to “disappear” on your containers. Clear labels will give you that “no label look” or printed-right-on-the-bottle look which also works keenly with transparent shampoo containers, especially if you’d like to flaunt the color, texture, translucency/clarity, or even glitter particles/micro crystals in your gorgeous formulas. This label stock is also a cheaper option compared to diecut labels (cookie cutter shape labels) since you would simply need to print white and colored ink on areas that need to be conspicuous—the clear, unprinted label material will blend onto the container, taking after the color of its background, leaving you with any custom shape of whatever has been printed.
White paper stock is our cost-efficient shampoo label option since it is the least expensive material, but with comparable print quality and strength. However, since the base is porous paper, if not applied smoothly and if applied on a dusty/oily surface, this stock won’t perform as well as stocks with a plastic base. Superior tack keeps the paper base firmly on your shampoo container, and the laminate allows water to flow smoothly down the container without seeping into the paper base.
Uncoated paper stock is definitely not waterproof. With any shampoo paper label, we strongly advise adding a laminate to protect them against oil, moisture, and frequent handling in the shower. Choose matte laminate for a low-shine finish to mimic the flat finish of uncoated paper, or high gloss for more vibrant prints. Paper labels without an added laminate will start to deteriorate and crumble when in contact with liquid and oil and will rub off more easily.
Foil silver stock (Silver PET) and Holographic silver stock (PET base), are distinct and eye-catching favorites, especially if your shampoo insists on a more glam look for high fashion appeal. The holographic silver option will make your custom shampoo labels look markedly custom, with its signature rainbow sheen that is conspicuous enough to capture customers’ fancy and can work well with creative concepts to give your shampoo products more shelf appeal. Use saturated colors for a commercial looking label to intensify your packaging appeal and aesthetic. The foil silver stock can be worked around as a cheaper alternative to hot or cold foil stamping, if your shampoo labels require metallic-looking prints. Both label stocks come with either gloss or matte laminate to further protect your custom shampoo labels against water, oil, ink scuffing, and fading.
A laminate is a clear, protective coating that also changes the final finish of your shampoo labels. Once applied, it creates a smoother label texture and protects the print from wear-and-tear against rubbing or scuffing.
CHOOSE MATTE LAMINATE – For a flat, low-shine label finish, with printed colors that are soft and muted. Generally, colors are duller with less contrast. Matte coating is forgiving with low resolution prints and provides for a refined appearance. This complements satin shampoo bottles nicely.
CHOOSE GLOSS LAMINATE – Gloss makes your labels extremely smooth and allows them to reflect a lot of light, for high shine. This reproduces vibrant color and delivers sharper detail due to higher contrast (shadows are darker and highlights are brighter). This is great for labels with vibrant color palettes, for a more commercial look. Gloss also provides more protection against ink scuffing compared to matte laminate, especially with paper labels.
CHOOSE HOLOGRAPHIC GLOSS – Same as gloss laminate, but with the addition of a transparent color gradient that is only apparent once the surface catches light at different angles. The transparent rainbow effect transforms old shampoo label artwork into a more stunning piece. This kind of laminate doesn’t suit all label designs and concepts. We suggest getting a label sample to check if this will enhance your existing label artwork.
