With the increasing awareness of environmental protection, zinc-plated trivalent chromium passivation agents are widely used due to their environmental protection, good corrosion resistance, and simple wastewater treatment. However, some trivalent chromium passivation agents on the market still have the problem of high cost, which is mainly due to the following three reasons:
1. The formula design of trivalent chromium passivation agents is unreasonable, and it is easy to cause the proportion to be imbalanced, resulting in fogging and yellowing of the workpiece after passivation. In order to solve the problem, the cylinder can only be reopened, thereby increasing the cost.
2. Trivalent chromium passivation agents have low tolerance for impurities. During the passivation process, the zinc ion concentration in the passivation solution will continue to rise. Occasionally, if the workpiece falls into the tank and is not salvaged in time, the iron ions will also rise, and excessive zinc and iron will seriously affect the performance of the passivation solution. When the working fluid has a low tolerance for impurities, production can only be maintained by updating the working fluid.
3. Trivalent chromium passivation agents are not prepared with pure water. Some private workshops, which do not have legal factories, use groundwater or tap water to prepare potions in order to reduce investment and save costs! Poor water quality will affect the passivation effect and increase costs. For example, some trivalent chromium passivators contain fluoride ions, and the calcium in hard water will react with fluoride to form calcium fluoride precipitation, making the passivation solution difficult to use.
The above are the three reasons why the cost of using zinc plating trivalent chromium passivator is high.
